The 1909 Grand Final was between South Melbourne and Carlton. This was the first game caught on footage. It was a scrappy match, the Swans finally winning by two. It was on level terms for the first two quarters, but the Swans kicked away in the third, leading 36-29. They held on for the win by two points. 38-36, in front of a 37,759 crowd at the MCG.
