The 2018 AFL Season was the 122nd installment of elite Australian rules football and the 29th edition since the formation of the Australian Football League. The season commenced on Thursday 22nd March and concluded on Saturday 29th September.

Overview[]

There were a few notable fixture changes, mainly the construction of Optus Stadium in Perth which has become the home of Fremantle and West Coast.

There were no notable managerial changes throughout the 2018 season.

Collingwood had a noticeable incline in ladder position from a 13th place finish in 2017 to a 3rd place finish in 2018. West Coast also shocked, from a mediocre 8th place finish for 2017 they finished in 2nd and took out the premiership in 2018. Hawthorn went from 12th in 2017 to 4th in 2018. On the other hand, Adelaide dropped from minor premiers in 2017 to 12th in 2018, Port Adelaide went from a promising 5th place in 2017 to a disappointing 10th place finish for 2018.
